The Oktoberfest is a sixteen-day festival held each year in Munich, Bavaria, Germany during late September (and running to early October).
It is one of the most famous events in the city and the world’s largest fair, with some six million people attending every year, and is an enjoyable event with an important part of Bavarian culture. Other cities across the world also hold Oktoberfest celebrations, modeled after the Munich event.
The dates for Oktoberfest are: Sept.17-Oct. 3, 2011 and for 2012: September 22 – October 7.
The rule is that the Oktoberfest always ends on the first Sunday in October, and begins 16 days previous to that date. If October 3rd is a Monday, the event is prolonged to include that day.
I have gathered my favorite, “Oktoberfest Recipes“. Some of my fav Oktoberfest Recipes will include german potato salad, bratwurst with apples, onion, and sauerkraut and apple raisin strudels.
